ESPN.com - NFL - The Weekly Conversation: Dan Morgan
Bensinger: How about the long-term ramifications of multiple concussions?
Morgan: You hear stories like Ted Johnson, Andre Waters [the brain damage he suffered during his football career led to depression which contributed to his suicide], and Muhammad Ali. I’ve heard pretty much everything. I think my case is a little different because I’ve never been just totally knocked out on a field. I’m definitely aware of concussions and what it could possibly do to my future. It’s up to the player to ultimately decide if it’s right for him to go out there and play or not. I’ve got a family and wouldn’t go out there for one second if I didn’t feel I was healthy enough to play.
Awesome conversation with Dan Morgan about his concussions. Something like this should have been done a long time ago in the local market. The local guys really dropped the ball on this one.

Toledo Free Press - A tradition for Toledo’s future
I came across this article about Panthers 4th round pick Ryne Robinson.
Robinson, by his own admission, only weighed “a buck and a half” when he graduated high school. Many questioned whether the
Central Catholic product was big enough or tough enough to play Division I football. Many people, including coaches, flat out told Robinson that he couldn’t do it. Four years and 30-plus pounds later, the once pint-sized speedster is one of the newest members of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

(former) Panther Keyshawn Johnson pontificating about Dwayne Jarrett and how he’s excited. I bet he’s not that excited now.

Dropping Johnson a gutsy decision

If anything became clear when the Carolina Panthers released Keyshawn Johnson on Tuesday, it was that coach John Fox and general manager Marty Hurney have more of two commodities than anyone might have guessed.
They must have job security, and they obviously have the strength of their convictions.
If they didn’t have plenty of both, Keyshawn Johnson would still be around.
Excellent piece by Gantt of the Rock Hill Herald regarding Fox and Hurney’s standing within the Panther organization.

Charlotte Observer | 03/26/2007 | Police arrest Panthers reserve guard
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged Carolina Panthers reserve guard DAnthony Batiste over the weekend with carrying a concealed weapon.
Batiste, 24, was also cited for a window tint violation, according to the Observers news partner, WCNC-TV.
Well, if it’s not one thing it’s another. Batiste actually has (or had) a shot of making the squad this year in a reserve role, as the staff is (or was) high on his potential. Seeing as how this arrest isn’t *that* bad in comparison to some of the other offenses in Panthers history, it’s possible he’ll remain on the team… but then again, a guy who is carrying around a concealed weapon wasn’t carrying it around for fun.

Scout.com: Jolley “very” interested in joining Panthers
“I think Doug would really fit well and get along very well in (new offensive coordinator) Jeff Davidson’s system,” Yee said. “So he’s very interested in the Panthers.”
Jolley left Carolina without a contract, but remains one of the better free agent tight ends available. If the Panthers don’t draft a TE in the draft they could look to sign Jolley, if he’s available. The teams has little talent and depth currently at tight end, and Jolley would at least compete for a roster spot.
