Winston-Salem Journal | More Controversy: Gordon moved to last row after his car was judged ‘an inch too low’

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR’s Daytona 500 rules dragnet crackdown continued yesterday.

Jeff Gordon’s winning Chevrolet was judged to be “an inch too low” in post-race inspection after Gordon’s dramatic late-race zigzag pass around a blocking Kurt Busch to finish first in the second Daytona 150-mile qualifying for Sunday’s first race of the season.

Gordon’s win will not be taken away, NASCAR’s Robin Pemberton, vice president of competition, said, noting “we’re sure this wasn’t intentional.”
